Sons of ‘Cog’:

Hema

We all love Cog. (Don’t we?)

I’m not sure, at all, about Guinness.

But do like this retail homage to the domino effect, from Hema.

Good ad. Good use of media:

A banner ad for Apple, supported by video.

All part of the same idea.

Watch it, that’ll explain things much better than I can.

Writer’s strike. Brilliant case making:

This is a 4 minute film made by some of the writers on the Daily Show, presenting their case for getting paid for stuff they write, that appears online.

Brilliant stuff, via The Scobelizer himself.

Mighty

mightysmall recently opened for business.

Good thing says I.

Why?

1. Scottish advertising needs a shot in the arm and a kick up the arse.

2. mightysmall is none-other than Adrian Jeffery, Brian McGregor & Tamsin Ansdell.

The brightest and the best in my book.

As well as D&AD’s too, if you care to look for Brian and Adrian’s names amongst the indexes. (sp? Indices? Where’s the proof reader when you need one?).

A location, in addition to 21a Haddington Place, that I’m sure Tamsin will join them at before long.)

With all this in mind, I’m going to take it on myself to interview, write about them and generally cheer from the stands (aka blog),  as they grow in stature and succeed in Edinburgh over the next few years.

Why? (Again.)

1. Because this is my blog and I can do what I flippin’ well please.

2. Because i) they are the best thing to happen to Scottish advertising for a very long time. ii) they might be the last thing to happen to Scottish advertising for a very long time.

Sneaky/inventive ad placement in FaceBook photos:

with one comment

I was reading a article on the Unofficial FaceBook blog, about a photo set that was getting a lot of hits.

When I had a look at the shots I noticed somebody, presumably an advertiser had apparently joined the group and dropped an ad into the sequence of photos. It’s picture 9 and looks like it’s an ad for a mobile phone retailer.
It’s probably easier to show you in a little desktop movie I shot of the photostream:

New Facebook/Typepad feature:

leave a comment »

Fpshare
Typepad, the blog platform DigitalAgency have been using for about 18 months now, have been quick off the mark to add this new FaceBook feature.

When you write a post in Facebook, it also allows you to notify your friends of new stuff via your profile feed in FB.

I’ll give it a whirl and see if it’s useful or not.

I’m also interested in the new ways that FB is opening up the platform to brands, with things like brand pages.

Will report back on this when I have noddled about with it a bit.

Keep on running:

Runner

This is great.

A bloke in Holland, sets his camera up on a tripod.

Puts the camera on 2 second delay auto-timer.

Presses the shutter, then runs like the clappers to see how far he can get before the shutter fires.

Barmy, brilliant, blimey!

(Found via Russell’s essential delicious feed.)

Addendum, my pal Frasr from Coffee Morn and Whitespace, explored this though too earlier this year.

I mentioned the above to him and he pointed me to his ‘Legging-It’ shots on his flickr pages.
